PT-141 for Men

Viagra and Cialis widen blood vessels. If the problem is that desire itself has gone, more blood flow does not solve it — and that is the gap PT-141 was found to fill.

Who this is for

PT-141 suits men whose issue is desire rather than mechanics, and men for whom the vascular medications have not worked.

Low desire rather than difficulty with erection
PDE5 medications that did little, or nothing
Function that works when desire is present, and desire that is not
A preference for an as-needed option over a daily one
Contraindications to the vascular medications
Desire that changed alongside stress, mood or hormones

PT-141 is FDA-approved for hypoactive sexual desire disorder in premenopausal women, under the brand name Vyleesi. Use in men is off-label, prescribed and supervised by the clinic — that distinction is worth understanding before you start.

What the program includes

A workup first

Testosterone, cardiovascular risk and current medications reviewed, because low desire has causes worth identifying rather than overriding.

A different pathway

PT-141 activates melanocortin receptors in the nervous system to affect desire itself, rather than acting on the vascular system the way Viagra does.

As-needed, not daily

A small subcutaneous injection, typically into the lower abdomen or thigh. You are trained at the office and then keep the medication at home.

Compounded through vetted pharmacies

Prescribed through the clinic rather than sourced online, where there is no oversight of what is in the vial.

How this program runs

Foundational Assessment — $599

A full biological picture before anything is prescribed: symptoms, history, goals and comprehensive bloodwork, reviewed by Dr. Varano.

Membership — $279 / month

Ongoing clinical oversight, direct clinician messaging between visits, and protocol adjustments based on how you actually respond.

Your protocol

Built to your labs and your goals, then re-checked and adjusted as your numbers move. Nothing here is a fixed script.

Current program pricing is listed on the specialty treatment plans page.

What we track

Response and tolerability are reviewed at follow-up. PT-141 is not for daily use and should not be taken more than once in a 24-hour period — dosing guidance is part of the consultation, not an afterthought.

Questions men ask us

How does PT-141 treat erectile dysfunction differently?

PT-141 targets the nervous system to increase sexual desire rather than acting on the vascular system the way medications like Viagra do. Because it uses a different pathway, it can work for men who have not had success with other treatments.

Does PT-141 work better than Viagra?

PT-141 and Viagra work through completely different mechanisms, so it's not a direct comparison. PT-141 increases sexual desire through the brain's melanocortin pathway, while Viagra increases blood flow to the genitals. For men whose primary issue is low desire, PT-141 is often the better fit.

How is PT-141 administered?

It is given as a small subcutaneous injection, typically into areas with fat deposits such as the lower abdomen or thigh. Patients receive instruction at the office and can then keep the medication at home.

How quickly does PT-141 work?

Most patients notice effects within 30–60 minutes of injection, with peak effects occurring at 1–2 hours. Unlike daily medications that need to build up in your system, PT-141 works on an as-needed basis.

How often can I take PT-141?

PT-141 should not be used more than once in a 24-hour period. For women, the FDA recommends no more than 8 doses per month. For men, a similar as-needed approach is standard. PT-141 is not designed for daily use.

Where did PT-141 originate?

PT-141 was derived from Melanotan II, a synthetic version of a peptide hormone originally intended to darken skin pigmentation. Its effects on sexual function were discovered during early clinical work.
