First Visit & Lab Work

I have my own recent labs. Can I just use them instead of the required panel?

Unfortunately, no. While we strongly encourage new patients to upload any existing labs from the last 3-6 months to create a more comprehensive health assessment, Dr. Varano has designed a custom set of labs specifically for analysis, and we cannot deviate from the $599 package price. Women will still need to complete both urine and blood work, while men require bloodwork. We welcome you to upload any other lab results to your patient portal, which we’ll be happy to review during your initial consultation.

First Visit & Lab Work

Where do I get my bloodwork done?

Quest Diagnostics: Your blood work requisition will say “Cleveland Heart” on the script. Cleveland Heart is our custom panel lab that is processed through Quest Diagnostics. You can only have your bloodwork drawn at a Quest location—we do not have contracts with LabCorp or hospital in-office draw sites.

First Visit & Lab Work

How do I schedule my bloodwork appointment?

Please go directly to the Quest Patient Scheduling system online at https://appointment.questdiagnostics.com/as-home to make your appointment at a location convenient for you.

First Visit & Lab Work

Do I need to fast for my bloodwork?

Yes, please ensure you are fasted for 8-12 hours before your appointment, as we are analyzing metabolic markers and other indicators that require fasting for accurate results.

First Visit & Lab Work

Should I present my insurance card at Quest?

No, please do not present your insurance card. This is a pre-paid script that is included as part of your new patient package.

First Visit & Lab Work

When should I do my Physician's Lab first morning void urine collection?

Women without a menstrual cycle can test without a specific timeline. However, women with a menstrual cycle, collect 19-22 days after start of last period. Please make sure you read all the details of the urine kit closely to ensure accurate results so that no retest will be needed.

First Visit & Lab Work

Great, I just paid for my initial consult and labwork package. How quickly can I schedule my first visit?

We schedule patients 4-6 weeks out from when they process their transaction. This allows time for urine kits to arrive, patients to schedule labs, labs to take 2 weeks to post, and sometimes specific requirements for our menstruating female patients. If patients are able to quickly get labs done and labs post/complete, we may be able to offer a sooner first appointment. Six weeks is ideally the standard with 4 weeks being the minimum to schedule, so we have all comprehensive labs.

First Visit & Lab Work

Do I have paperwork to complete before my first visit?

Yes, we will direct you to your newly created patient portal where you can fill out first-time forms. Our staff will follow up to try to ensure all questionnaires and consents are finished prior to your first visit. If you forget to complete your paperwork, you can still keep your appointment—just arrive 15 minutes early and we’ll provide paper forms. However, completing everything beforehand allows the provider to fully prepare for your visit.

First Visit & Lab Work

Can I bring my current supplements to my first visit?

Yes! We encourage you to bring them so we can review what you’re taking and build out your personalized health plan, making adjustments as needed.

First Visit & Lab Work

Can I bring someone with me to my first visit?

That is your choice. If you feel it would benefit your comprehensive visit, you’re more than welcome to bring someone. We will focus solely on you and your concerns, but are happy to engage with your guest.

Screening & Hormone Therapy

Why are mammograms required to initiate hormone therapy in women?

YoungerMeMD requires mammograms for women over the age of 40, with specific screening cadences for continuing treatment. This is an essential safety measure for hormone therapy.

Screening & Hormone Therapy

Are there required screenings for male patients to start hormone therapy?

Yes, we review PSA (prostate-specific antigen) levels and any other markers that may be deterrents to hormone therapy. PSA is INCLUDED in the initial lab panel and will be reviewed at the time of your visit.

Insurance, HSA/FSA & Payment

I understand you don't take insurance. Can I submit any of this to my FSA/HSA?

Yes, though coverage is dependent on your specific plan. We do not offer diagnostic codes or procedure codes, as this is a membership subscription plan that doesn’t follow traditional reimbursement schedules. We make no claims that your HSA/FSA will cover this type of care, but we have had patients successfully use their HSA accounts toward their membership until they max it out.

Insurance, HSA/FSA & Payment

How does the membership payment system work?

Our membership payment system is through HINT Health. Reminders will be sent to you for payment. You can pay via bank account, all major credit cards, and in some instances HSA/FSA.

Insurance, HSA/FSA & Payment

When is my membership fee processed?

Your subscription is processed on the date you signed up for membership. It will be that day every month.

Insurance, HSA/FSA & Payment

Can I use my insurance for pharmaceutical prescriptions?

Yes, you can, and we encourage patients to find the best cost savings for themselves when we prescribe medications to local pharmacies.

Insurance, HSA/FSA & Payment

My insurance isn't covering a local prescription. Will your office do a prior authorization?

Unfortunately, no. We do not offer prior authorizations, as that falls in line with insurance-based care, and our office is not equipped to handle these requests. We recommend paying the cash price in this case, or we can write for a generic alternative if deemed appropriate between you and your provider.

Membership Information

Do I have to sign up for the membership after the initial assessment and consultation?

No, there are no requirements to sign up. We actually encourage patients to take their new information and use the consultation as an opportunity to assess their health and empower themselves with newfound knowledge for future decision-making. However, if you wish to move forward immediately without delays, most patients do sign up at checkout after their initial consultation.

Membership Information

Do I have to sign up for a membership to receive medications?

Yes. There is not an à la carte approach to this type of care. Membership gives you access to exceptional care and specialty treatment plans dialed into your specific needs.

Membership Information

When do I have to pay for a membership?

We can immediately get you started if you decide to move forward with membership at your visit. However, you can also think about it, talk it over with your loved ones, and call us later. We can always initiate membership after the fact, so you have time to make your decision. Our YoungerMeMD Team can handle everything remotely.

Membership Information

How long am I required to be on the membership?

Membership is a monthly subscription fee. Members sign up and consent to a yearly membership agreement. The terms explain all parts of their membership.

Membership Information

How do I cancel my membership?

You can call or email the office at help@youngermemd.com. We prefer cancellation in writing via email—even if you call to cancel, we request it be in writing. Our cancellation policy requires patients to pay for the existing month they are canceling in, plus the following month of membership fees—essentially a 60-day cancellation policy. Specialty Treatment Plans are tied to cancellation on a case-by-case basis, depending on the last medication fill, labs ordered, etc. This will be discussed with the YoungerMeMD Team at the time of cancellation.

Membership Information

What if I have to cancel due to a personal matter, emergency, or health-related reason?

YoungerMeMD is reasonable and reviews each individual case to determine terms of cancellation based on the specific circumstances.

EnergizeMe: MOTs-c

What is MOTS-c peptide therapy?

MOTS-c is a naturally occurring mitochondrial-derived peptide that helps regulate how the body produces and uses energy. Therapeutic MOTS-c supports metabolic efficiency, insulin sensitivity, exercise response, and cellular resilience by restoring communication between mitochondria and the rest of the body.

EnergizeMe: MOTs-c

How is MOTS-c different from weight loss medications?

MOTS-c does not suppress appetite or act as a stimulant. Instead, it works at the cellular level to improve metabolic function and energy utilization. Many patients experience improved body composition as metabolism becomes more efficient, but the goal is metabolic optimization—not rapid or artificial weight loss.

EnergizeMe: MOTs-c

Who is a good candidate for MOTS-c therapy?

MOTS-c may benefit patients experiencing fatigue, metabolic slowdown, exercise resistance, insulin sensitivity issues, or age-related declines in energy and recovery. It is also well-suited for individuals seeking a longevity-focused, foundational approach to metabolic health.

EnergizeMe: MOTs-c

How soon will I notice benefits from MOTS-c?

Some patients report improved energy or exercise response within the first few weeks, while metabolic and body composition changes typically develop over time. Results vary based on baseline health, activity level, nutrition, and adherence to the overall program.

EnergizeMe: MOTs-c

Is MOTS-c safe?

MOTS-c is generally well-tolerated. Mild injection site reactions or temporary fatigue may occur as metabolism adjusts. MOTS-c should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Your provider will review your medical history and medications to ensure it is appropriate for you.

EnergizeMe: MOTs-c

Can MOTS-c be combined with other peptide therapies?

Yes. MOTS-c is often used alongside performance, healing, or cognitive peptides. By improving mitochondrial efficiency, MOTS-c can enhance how the body responds to other peptide signals and optimization therapies.

EnergizeMe: MOTs-c

Do I need to change my diet or exercise routine while on MOTS-c?

While MOTS-c can improve metabolic efficiency on its own, results are enhanced when paired with regular physical activity, balanced nutrition, adequate sleep, and lifestyle optimization. Your program includes guidance to support these areas.

EnergizeMe: MOTs-c

Is MOTS-c part of the YoungerMeMD peptide membership?

Yes. MOTS-c is offered as part of our precision peptide pathways and requires enrollment in the YoungerMeMD membership to ensure proper medical oversight, monitoring, and ongoing optimization.

EnergizeMe: MOTs-c

How MOT-c different from CJC1295+ Ipamorelin or Sermorelin?

The key differences between the MOTS-c Specialty Treatment Plan and the Peak Performance Plan are:

MOTS-c “EnergizeMe” Plan ($199/month):

  • Target: Mitochondrial function and cellular energy production
  • Peptide: MOTS-c (mitochondrial-derived peptide)
  • Mechanism: Works directly on mitochondria to improve energy efficiency, metabolic function, and fat burning
  • Primary Benefits: Sustained energy, improved insulin sensitivity, enhanced workout performance and recovery, metabolic optimization
  • Protocol: 3 months on, 1 month off cycling
  • Dosing: 3x per week subcutaneous injections

Peak Performance Plan ($175/month) (with Sermorelin or CJC-1295/Ipamorelin):

  • Target: Growth hormone optimization and systemic recovery
  • Peptides: Sermorelin OR CJC-1295 + Ipamorelin (growth hormone secretagogues)
  • Mechanism: Stimulates natural growth hormone production from the pituitary gland
  • Primary Benefits: Muscle building, fat loss, improved sleep quality, enhanced recovery, anti-aging effects, increased lean muscle mass
  • Protocol: 5 nights on, 2 nights off
  • Dosing: dependent on the medication selected

In Simple Terms:

  • MOTS-c = “Turn on your cellular power plants” – focuses on energy at the cellular level
  • Sermorelin/CJC-Ipamorelin = “Boost your body’s master recovery hormone” – focuses on growth hormone for muscle, recovery, and body composition

Some patients might benefit from both (at different times or potentially together), depending on their goals.

Specialty Treatments

I'm interested in pellet therapy tied to the specialty treatment plan for hormones. Can I start it immediately after my first visit?

It depends. You must first sign all consents for the therapy and be enrolled in membership. We try our best to accommodate new patients, but may be able to schedule you very quickly after your first visit—so you can start feeling better as soon as possible.

Specialty Treatments

Is pellet therapy a separate fee?

No. Pellet procedures, medication, and supplies are all included in the Hormone Optimization treatment plan.

Follow-Up Care & Testing

What happens after my initial evaluation?

You can sign up for your YoungerMeMD membership and specialty treatment plan at checkout the same day. At that time, the provider will order medication, order future labs for your follow-up visit, and the YoungerMeMD Team will walk you through the next steps.

Follow-Up Care & Testing

Will I have access to my labs after my visit and notes?

Yes, you can view all of this in your patient portal, including medications ordered, dosing, strength, and more.

Follow-Up Care & Testing

How soon will I start to feel better?

Most patients start to experience improvement within 2-4 weeks.

Follow-Up Care & Testing

When will you test again after my initial workup?

We ideally like to see patients on their treatments for a total of 4 weeks before we test to see how they’ve responded. Therefore, our YoungerMeMD Team reaches out to order new labs 6 weeks after your first visit, allowing time to have the labs completed before your next visit.

Follow-Up Care & Testing

How often do I need to be seen?

Generally speaking, we see patients every 3-4 months. SlimmerMeMD patients are seen every 4 weeks, either in-office, for InBody testing and their included B12 shot(recommended if the patient finds value from it), or via monthly telemedicine to review their results and order their medication. We may require labs in between visits for specialty lab testing with brief consultations—such as Cardio Res-Q treatment plan diagnostic testing—if we are tracking something more closely.

Communication & Support

What can I expect with communication from the office?

The office is physically open Tuesdays through Thursdays, closed on Fridays, and responds remotely on Mondays. For any questions via email, the patient portal, or phone, we aim to respond as quickly as possible—refills are usually entered within 24-48 business hours, and tasks are handled within 72 hours. We will let you know the status of your request, and if there is any concern, we will respond as quickly as possible.

Communication & Support

What if I have an emergency?

We highly recommend you go to the ER and follow up with us afterward.
