Peptide Program 04

CognitiveMe | Sharpen Focus. Calm the Mind. Protect the Brain.

Somewhere between a full calendar and a mind that won’t quiet down, focus starts slipping — and it’s not always the same kind of slipping. For some patients, it’s a nervous system that never gets to power down. For others, it’s a ceiling on processing speed and mental stamina that wasn’t there a few years ago. CognitiveMe covers both, with two intranasal peptides: Semax and Selank.

Every option in this program

Your CognitiveMe options

Option 1

Selank Calm Focus & Stress Resilience

Woman resting calmly with her eyes closed

Your calendar is full, the pressure is constant, and your mind never really gets to stop.

You are not looking for sedation — you still need to perform, think clearly, and show up at your best. What you need is to stop feeling like your nervous system is working against you.

Selank was designed for exactly this.

It is not a stimulant. It is not a sedative. Selank is a synthetic regulatory peptide studied for anxiety; laboratory research suggests it acts partly through the brain’s GABA system, and small clinical trials in patients with anxiety disorders reported reduced anxiety.12 The result most patients describe isn’t a feeling of being chemically altered — it is the feeling of being more like themselves. Calmer without being dulled. Clearer without being wired. More stable in high-pressure moments that used to knock them off balance.

What patients notice

What patients typically report

“I can finally think clearly under pressure.”

The pressure hasn’t disappeared — the nervous system has just stopped amplifying it past what the moment actually calls for.

“I’m calm without feeling dulled.”

No sedation, no fog. Just steadier footing in the moments that used to knock you off balance.

Option 2

Semax Cognitive Performance & Mental Endurance

Man deep in focused thought

You are sharp. You have always been sharp. But lately something has shifted.

Focus takes more effort, words come a half-second slower, the mental stamina that used to carry you through long demanding days has a ceiling it didn’t used to have. You are not burned out. You are just not operating at full capacity, and you know the difference.

Semax is a synthetic peptide developed in Russia as a nootropic (cognition-supporting) medication.3

It is not a stimulant. In animal studies it raises BDNF, a protein involved in neuroplasticity, and Russian research reports improved resistance to low oxygen and brain circulation. Evidence for cognitive benefits in healthy adults is limited, but promising.43

No crash. No ceiling. Just your brain working the way it is capable of working.

What patients notice

What patients typically report

“My focus actually holds now.”

No drift, no afternoon wall — just sustained attention across a full day of demanding work.

“I recall things faster.”

Names, details, the thread of a conversation you stepped away from — retrieval feels immediate again.

Semax and Selank together

They act on different pathways and can be prescribed together, although the combination has not yet been studied in clinical trials. One example protocol uses Semax in the morning for focus and Selank later in the day to help the nervous system wind down.

Semax — the performance specialist

Semax is the option aimed at concentration and memory. In animal studies it increases BDNF, a protein involved in neuroplasticity; it has not yet been compared head-to-head with Selank.45

Selank — the regulation specialist

Selank is the option aimed at brain fog driven by anxiety or stress. Laboratory studies suggest it modulates GABA signaling, and in small clinical trials in patients with anxiety disorders it reduced anxiety.12

Does This Sound Like You?

CognitiveMe is often requested by high-achievers managing mental load, stress, or brain fog. Most Semax and Selank research involves patients with neurological or anxiety disorders, so your provider will discuss what the evidence does and does not show.

You might be a good candidate if you:

  • Feel like your nervous system is working against you during high-pressure days
  • Notice focus takes more effort or mental stamina has a ceiling it didn’t used to have
  • Want calm and clarity without sedation, or sharper recall without a crash
  • Have tried stimulants and don’t want the jitteriness or the comedown
  • Want a protocol that addresses stress regulation and cognitive performance as two separate, solvable problems

How CognitiveMe combines with the other pathways

Most patients begin with one program and expand as their protocol matures. These are the combinations Dr. Varano reaches for most often with CognitiveMe patients.

Most Paired

CognitiveMe — Selank

Semax has been studied mainly for cognition and Selank mainly for anxiety. Some patients managing both performance demands and stress use the two together, although the combination has not yet been studied in clinical trials.

Root Cause

Hormone Optimization

Hormonal decline — particularly testosterone in men and estrogen in women — is one of the most common and most overlooked contributors to brain fog, slow recall, and declining mental stamina. When hormones are part of the picture, your provider may address them alongside any cognitive protocol. Semax and hormone therapy have not yet been studied together.

Performance Upgrade

EnergizeMe — Mitochondrial Support

Cognitive performance runs on cellular energy. The brain uses a large share of the body’s energy. Some patients pair Semax with mitochondrial support, although this combination has not yet been studied in clinical trials.

Deep Restore

RestoreMe — Epitalon

Deep, restorative sleep helps the brain consolidate memory, and animal research suggests it also helps clear metabolic waste from the brain.67 In small Russian studies in older adults, Epitalon restored night-time melatonin release; its effects on sleep itself have not yet been established in clinical trials. However, anecdotally, positive patient outcomes are noted.89 For patients whose cognitive performance is being undermined by poor sleep quality, pairing Semax with Epitalon addresses the output and the recovery it depends on.

How this program is prescribed

Every peptide program at YoungerMeMD follows the same three steps. No peptide is prescribed before the assessment, and no program runs without ongoing supervision.

Foundational Assessment

A complete biological picture first — symptoms, goals, inflammatory status, recovery, sleep and cognitive function. This is what identifies which pathway fits you, and rules out the ones that do not.

Peptide Membership

Continuous clinical oversight: protocol design, ongoing monitoring, direct clinician messaging between visits, and adjustments based on how you actually respond.

Your program

Dr. Varano matches you to the peptide — or the combination — that fits your biology and your goal. Most patients begin with one and expand the stack as their protocol matures.

CognitiveMe — questions we hear

What is the difference between Semax and Selank?

Semax has been studied mainly as a nootropic for focus and memory, and in animal studies it increases BDNF. Selank has been studied mainly for anxiety, and laboratory studies suggest it modulates GABA signaling.41

Can Semax and Selank be used together?

Yes, they can be prescribed together, although the combination has not yet been studied in clinical trials. One example protocol uses Semax in the morning for focus and Selank later in the day to help the nervous system wind down.

Why is Semax given as a nasal spray?

A nasal spray avoids the digestive system, and research on intranasal drug delivery shows that some medicines can reach the brain along olfactory and trigeminal nerve pathways, bypassing the blood-brain barrier.1011

Does Selank cause sedation?

Sedation has not been a prominent finding in the small clinical studies available, and in one trial adding Selank to a benzodiazepine reduced side effects such as sedation. Its long-term effects have not yet been well studied.12

Not sure which option is right for you?

The quiz takes two minutes. The assessment is what actually decides the protocol — and it comes before any peptide is prescribed.
